A World Living It's Pupose

While driving today I noticed the different cars and people going to their different destinations. I noticed how few had the look of peace and content on their face, the look was one of tension and stress. I thought this is wrong, how and why are we going somewhere that's causing such pain and dis-ease?. Then it hit me all at once. Instead of waking up in the morning chasing our purpose we are chasing a dollar, I know this because I'm guilty of chasing profit instead of purpose myself.

Our culture in this day and age is full of the bling, bling culture. The man or woman with the biggest newest car is respected no matter that their one check away from being dead broke, "they sure look good!!".  It's so bad, even the smartest people in finance cant get it right and need to get bailed out by the Government.

So imagine this. What if people didn't worry about the big shiny car or living in the biggest house?.  What if finding your purpose was the most popular goal?. How would that make the world different than it is now?. I have a few ideas below on how I think some thing's would be.

  1.  Child rearing: Since living our purpose would be the most important thing in society, It would be priority for mothers and fathers. Especially for mothers In a child's infant years, to have more time with their offspring. The first two years of a child's life  are crucial and very important to develop healthy attachment bond. Without it, studies have shown it may result in a severe personality disorder. With early bonding it offers a child it's first model for healthy intimate relationships and gifting the child with a sense of security and positive self esteem.  No more nannies or day care in the early years of life.   Chasing a dollar causes us to deny our future this priceless necessity.
  2.  Education: Another very important path society can take in making purpose the number  one goal. First of all there are thousand's maybe million's of people who's purpose is to teach but aren't because their chasing riches and status, and are forced to forgo that dream due to the fact that teacher's just don't get the respect nor the resources that they truly deserve. But in this purpose driven society Schools would be State of the art, progressive development institutions, with an abundance of resources needed for employees and students.  The curriculum from elementary to high school would be on all material needed to determine each child's strengths, weaknesses, and interest, preparing them for college which will prepare them to live their true purpose and it would be free.  In a purpose based society this is the norm, when everyone is working their purpose they become prime assets to the world and themselves. No matter what their title from janitor to doctor because they would be their best selves.
  3. Society: There would be a certain sense of flow in the atmosphere. People would be living in Their!! reality not the Jones down the street.  I'm sure society would make adjustment's for people who's purpose wont make them rich. Although according to T.D Jakes "Profit follows Purpose". People will be happier living their purpose, studies show this significantly reduces stress and depression which also can discourage substance  abuse as reported in the Chicago Tribune. Just a few stats on stress and depression to show how big this change is.
  • According to the National  Institute of mental Health 17 million Americans a year were affected by depression in 1997.
  •  I the past 15 years  25 million American seek treatment for depression, 90% leave that doctors office with anti depressants. ( That's a whole different story).

These few Ideas and facts if not taken to heart, they should be at least taken into consideration. I'm sure I am not the only one who thinks the old way must change. That it's time to evolve into something greater for humanity.  I don't have all the answers not by a long shot but we have to start some were.  Some of my Ideas may seem absurd or crazy like free college, living your purpose no matter what type of financial security that endeavor may provide. As the saying goes "Be the change" and that's what I will do and hopefully many will do the same. How do you think the world would be if everyone lived their purpose?.

"If at first, the idea is not absurd then there is no hope for it".
